InfusionSoft/Google Wave Possibilites

What happens when you combine the best of breed customer management tools with the most amazing real time collaboration platform ever?
All thanks to the Pirate Party of Sweden?
Read on for the Geek-speak or try it out for free at www.EtherPad.com.
Background:
Turns out the Pirate Party of Sweden runs a service they call PiratePad. [src:SlashDot]
PiratePad is a standalone implimentation of EtherPad. Etherpad is a server app created by a San Fansisco company called AppJet.
Basically it’s a stand alone RHINO/Java based version of Google Wave. Version is the wrong word, more like parallel development.
No wonder Google bought them out!
If you played with the Etherpad, you can see how powerful a collaboration tool this can be. Now, we need to write another service that can be called inside or outside InfusionSoft!
The challenge with Google Wave is getting people to “buy in” because of the the slow invitation process. Hopefully, with Google’s acquisition of AppJet, the creators of EtherPad, this will move along nicely. (Think Google Video pre-YouTube.)
Now that AppJet is on the Google Wave team [Feb 2010] InfusionSoft now has a real shot at adding the Google Wave Protocol to their service.
The good news is that Google promptly applied the Apache license and posted the source code! That means you can run your own “Etherpad” server.
This is a huge boon for Infusion if they can get their managers, coders and lawyers to align fast enough to make something happen before it’s relevance expires. I believe they can make it happen. InfusionSoft is a good company that has the capacity and potential to be great.
Maybe I won’t wait for InfusionSoft, I can just do my own!!!

Travis,
You are on to something, but our current product focus and roadmap does not include the marvels of Google Wave or Doc sharing within it. As we continue to grow our footprint in super-serving the small business segment, this may be an option worth exploring.
I am interested in how you think this suggestion best fits in our product. For internal workgroup communication?
In the meantime, I let our chief system architect know about your suggestion. I wish you a great holiday and New Year.
All the best,

I would use it right away for internal collaboration between users. If I am assigning a task or project, it would be nice to have that conversation and be able to archive it in the documents.
From a more long term aspect, it would be nice to have that as a feature in the email creation tool.
We (users) would click on collaborate and the interface would change to something like the piratepad.com
I know the Infusion team is cranking out the new interface for editing right now so you are really busy.
Do you have any new “Top Secret” stuff for Infusionsoft gear-heads coming up? Always looking for blog fodder.

Travis,
I hope you had a great holiday and New Year’s break. We have a nifty, redesigned email editor from the ground up. It will pretty much blow your mind from anything you’ve seen before.
Look for it in the new release as a Beta/Experimental item.
More details to come as we near our launch.
All the best,
Joe
